General Questions:

* How do we work with ChinaSense to design a study tour? [back to top]
We typically start working with you 3 to 6 months before your tour. We start by understanding your group goals and then work with you to design an unique study program from the very beginning. In detail, we arrange business visits, networking events, cultural excursions, and travel logistics.

* Do we just sign contract with ChinaSense, or do we contract with hotels and airlines? [back to top]
ChinaSense is your general contractor and will take care of all travel logistics and business visits. ChinaSense customarily contracts with other parties on your behalf, including hotels and airlines.

* Do you make trip arrangements just for my school? Or, do we join a pre-designed tour? [back to top]
ChinaSense customizes business study tours for one school at a time. We work with you to help you design a trip that best extends your particular curriculum. There are no pre-designed tours that are open to independent travelers.

* Do you provide references? [back to top]
Yes, references are available upon request. Please email us at contact@chinasense.cn.

* How far ahead should we work with you on our upcoming trip? [back to top]
We normally work with you 3 to 6 months before your trip dates.

* If we organize business visits ourselves, can ChinaSense just make travel arrangements? [back to top]
We are not a traditional travel agency, and as such, do not handle travel arrangement alone. Our value-add is in the consulting that integrates your study objectives with the best business visits, speakers and cultural excursions. Therefore, we will not take on projects where we can not have the total responsibility of delivering your entire China experience.

Business Visits:

* How do you help us arrange business visits?[back to top]
We start by listening to you carefully - who you are and what you want for your group.. From past experience, we find that most university programs are interested in certain types of companies in specific industries. With your trip objectives in mind, we suggest a set of companies and then work with you to narrow down the list. Then, at least one month prior to your trip, we start to prepare speakers and confirm the agendas and site details with the sparkers. We deliver the best people to address topics that are of your interests.

* Do you help arrange general business visits? Can you also focus on certain industry verticals? [back to top]
Both. ChinaSense has access to over 500 companies in multiple cities in China. We use these relationships to design business visits that best serve your study objectives.

* What is included in a typical business visit? [back to top]
We believe interaction is the key for students to maximize their China experience. In each visit, we invite one or two senior managers to give talks or presentations, followed by a 30 minutes of Q&A. If the host company has a factory, we will also schedule a factory tour.

Cultural Excursions:

* How much of a cultural component do you include in a trip? [back to top]
We can include as much of a cultural component as you desire. However, we suggest that cultural excursions, while important, should play only a complimentary role. The focus of our trip should be on visits with businesses and business people who will provide your group with unique insights into the Chinese business environment.

* Can you arrange tours to sites of historic/cultural importance? [back to top]
Yes. We will make sure you understand their importance to the Chinese history and culture and how these sites have helped to form the Chinese mind set.

* If we want to see other areas besides big sophisticated cities, can you help us? [back to top]
Yes. We believe it is very worthwhile to give students a balanced look of China, including getting out into China's smaller cities and rural areas. However, logistics to rural areas can be challenging and time consuming, requiring more advanced and careful planning. We recommend you to engage us early (6 months ahead) if you plan to visit less developed areas.

Logistics:

* What kind of visa should we get, and how do we get them? [back to top]
Please consult the Chinese embassy or consulate in your country for visa application procedures. You will only need to obtain a tourist visa (L-visa) for normal study tours.
If possible, please obtain a multiple entry visa for better flexibility, although single entry is sufficient in most occasions.

* Should I get insurance? How much does it cost? [back to top]
We strongly recommend travel and emergency medical insurance. The cost for such insurance is generally very low ($1-$2 per day) but can be very handy in case of accidents. Since people generally get much better coverage by purchasing such insurance in their home country, ChinaSense does not buy insurance in China for visiting groups.

* Do I need certain vaccines? [back to top]
Please consult with your physician about you need for immunizations. You can find general disease control and prevention information at http://www.cdc.gov/travel/eastasia.htm.

* Do you help make arrangements for spouses or significant others [back to top]
Yes. Your trip will be one of those "experiences of a lifetime" that we're proud to help you share with a spouse or significant other. Please make plans for this early on and discuss with your school and us.

* If some people decide to come earlier or stay later, can you help make arrangements?[back to top]
Yes. We can be quite flexible in our arrangements and are glad to help anyway we can.
